Memorial Day traditionally marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and people throughout North Texas will celebrate the holiday by spending time outdoors.
The high temperature Monday is expected to approach 90 degrees, and while this is a far cry from the triple digits that will surely follow later in the year, it is still hot enough to cause heat-related illnesses. Dr. Mark Gamber, a physician at the Medical Center of Plano, said most illnesses result from a person not drinking enough water.

Randy Jackson, who helped turn the Poteet football program around during his three years at the school, is accepting a new challenge.
Jackson is expected to be named the new head coach at Plano East, pending PISD school board approval.
