If psychological thrillers keep the movie-goers in suspense, New Light Entertainment and Universal Music and Entertainment Distribution have released a relentless mind boggler with "Disorder."
This psychological thriller will be a one-time screening 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Magnolia Theater in Dallas. It has premiered in New York City and sold out many venues already. After the movie the audience was excited to see a good thriller movie.
"People were cheering and clapping in the theaters during the credits in New York," said Jack Thomas Smith.
Smith, who wrote and directed this bone-chilling story, makes his film directing debut with "Disorder." Smith also has produced movies for directors Ted Bohus and John Russo, co-creator of "Night of the Living Dead."
The thriller is about a paranoid schizophrenic, David Randall, played by Darren Kendrick, who is disturbingly haunted by a masked figure from his past.
The entire movie is viewed from David's perspective and ends with an unthinkable twist. The first half of the movie is all setup for nearly 60 minutes packed full of action at the end.
"I don't think any of the actors or actresses left the set without a bruise, cut or scrape everyday," said Smith. "It was a really demanding film for all of them. The action in the movie really shows."
Tom Sykes, a Plano resident, is the owner of New Light Entertainment who partnered with Universal to release "Disorder." Sykes was the first company to pick up Smith's film after months of closed doors.
"Tom believed in this movie and took a chance on it," said Smith. "I took this movie to just about every film festival and everyone shot it down. Then again this movie isn't really a festival movie; 'Brokeback Mountain' is a festival movie."
