Members of Carrollton Masonic Lodge 1400 are raising money for scholarships to be provided for eligible seniors who will graduate from any of Carrollton’s four high schools.

George Cael, senior warden and chairman of the lodge’s Fund Raising Committee, said, “In conjunction with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, and the Carrollton Country Fair Association, Carrollton Masonic Lodge 1400 is sponsoring a Jr./Sr. Ramble to raise money for an expanded scholarship program for graduating seniors in the school district.”

“We will be awarding as many $1,000 scholarships as are available, based on the money raised,” he said.

Masons will be calling on businesses for donations, and the students will be soliciting their friends, families and neighbors for sponsorship in the walk. Sponsorship sheets will be given to the students at their schools, Cael said.

Students will be walking by class and school in the Carrollton Country Fair Parade, scheduled for Oct. 21.

Cael said students who apply for a scholarship must have a good academic record with no deportment problems. Students will be required to write an essay in order to be eligible for a scholarship. Signup sheets are expected to be available the first week of October.

He said the scholarships will be distributed evenly between students at the four high schools.
