Lady Bulldogs top Lionettes, 11-3
By Travis Summers, MCKINNEY COURIER-GAZETTE
The best softball team in the city of McKinney proved just that Tuesday with an 11-3 defeat of McKinney on Tuesday.
McKinney scored at least one run in each of the first four innings to build a 7-0 lead.
In the first inning, lead-off hitter Kathy Shelton reached first and then stole second base. The next batter, Lindsey Post hit a double to score Shelton. North (15-2-1, 2-0) scored two more runs in the first inning as it built the early lead.
“I was just trying to give her an opportunity to get in some pitching,” Evans said. “She probably went longer than I needed her to.”
The junior transfer didn't fare well against her former team, surrendering three hits, including two doubles, allowing McKinney to score its three runs.
Adkins was brought back in to pitch the sixth and seventh innings, shutting down McKinney and securing the win.
Lady Titans top Boyd
Tuesday wasn't the homecoming Stephanie Freeman was hoping for.
Boyd's opened the 9-4A season at Frisco Centennial, where Freeman served as a varsity assistant from 2003-2005, and lost 9-0.
Sophomore centerfielder Asheley Ollennu led off the game with a drag bunt single advanced to third with no outs.
Boyd (2-12, 0-2) gave up four runs in the first inning and two runs in the second, but came back to allow only three run in the following five innings.
Ollennu's bunt was Boyd's only hit.
