Published: Tuesday, November 13, 2007 10:00 PM CST
A Plano personal trainer pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge of distributing steroids.

David Jacobs, 35, admitted to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute anabolic steroids. The plea was heard before United States Magistrate Judge Don D. Bush in the Eastern District of Texas.

Jacobs admitted to the court he and others distributed and dispensed anabolic steroids from February 2006 through April 2007. Jacobs admitted he was responsible for the distribution of more than 40,000 units of anabolic steroids and several thousand units of human growth hormone.

According to court documents, Jacobs was indicted on three felony counts, conspiracy to possess controlled substance, selling, distributing or dispensing a controlled substance and unlawful transport of firearms.

Amber Joleblon Jarrell, Andrew William Schenck and Matthew Blake Williams, along with Jacobs were indicted on the intent to sell steroids.

Each defendant pleaded not guilty at the time of the arraignment.

More than $26,000 was seized among the four individuals along with a 2005 Ford Mustang and 2005 Hummer H-2 along with multiple flat screen televisions, computers and printers.

Court documents declared Jacobs possessed two semi-automatic pistols, two semi-automatic rifles, a .222 caliber rifle and a 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun.

“The illegal distribution of steroids and human growth hormones poses a serious threat to our communities,” United States Attorney John Ratcliff said in a press release. “We will continue to investigate and prosecute any individuals engaged in the distribution of these illegal and dangerous drugs.”

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Jacobs faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.

Jacobs and his attorney Michael Curran were not available for comment.
