John William Brown passed away on March 26, 2008. He was born on September 26, 1916 in Thayer, Illinois, to John and Mildred Brown. He outlived his four younger siblings, Ralph, Jessie, Robert and Richard.

He met Mildred Hoover while working in New Canton, Illinois, at the C.C.C. camp. They were married on June 1, 1937 and moved to Hannibal, MO.

They had two children, Karen Brown Schneider of St. Louis, MO, and John Montie Brown of Allen, TX. Karen and her husband, Bruce, had two wonderful grandsons for John and Mildred to love, Edward David and Daniel Adam Schneider.

Upon Mildred's death in 1996, John moved to Texas to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Sheri. His last trip to Missouri was to attend the wedding of his grandson, Daniel to Daci Vowels.

He was active in the VFW and was a regular at the Allen Senior Center. He will be remembered fondly by thousands of children in the Allen, Plano, and Richardson area as the man who passed out little wooden cars to them. His past-time was making these cars just so he could see the joy in the kids faces, as they accepted and played with them.

A memorial service is planned at Richardson Church of the Nazarene, 2101 E. Renner Rd., Richardson, TX, on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2 p.m.
