Martha Jane Reed born December 29, 1929 in Denton, TX, passed away March 30, 2008.
Jane Reed, born and raised in Denton, Texas, married Hoyt Reed and was a devoted wife for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Oleta Denison, Mike Reed, Pat Reed and Tim Reed; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
No child could ask for a more loving and gentle mother. She enjoyed board games with her grandchildren, attended countless sporting events (although knowing little about sports) and knew a hundred ways to prepare ground beef. She was genuinely happy for others during their good times and was a source of comfort and wisdom during bad times. Her commitment to family was surpassed only by a devotion to her Christian beliefs.
Long after disease had stolen her memory, she still sang the words of her favorite hymns. Jane was a living testimony for her faith. She was generous with all God had blessed her with. Jane put the needs of others before her own and had empathy for the weak and vulnerable. The lives of all who knew her were enriched by her Christian walk through this life, and we take comfort in knowing that she has heard the words, "well done my good and faithful servant."
Visitation will be at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. Funeral service at Lewisville Bible Church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008.
The family wishes to offer it's gratitude to Muriel Phillips and her staff of caregivers for the amazing care provided to Jane during the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
