HAMBY
With heartfelt sorrow our family announces the passing of Charles Franklin Hamby, Sr., husband, brother, father and beloved grandfather, on March 25, 2008.
Charles, age 72, was born on June 5, 1935, in Allen, to the late Olen and Elise Hamby, of Prosper, and lived in Plano and Allen until his passing.
He saw his life complete when he married his wife of 52 years, Nelda Jean Hayes on October 2, 1955.
We also thank Charles for the example he left for his grandchildren: James M. Hays, II, of Brooklyn, NY; Jason K. Hays of Lubbock, TX; Kaci L. Pool of Fayetteville, AR; Trey R. Pool of Lucas; and Addison F., Avery G. and Audrey H. Hamby of Allen.
In advance, our family thanks you for the prayers and thoughts you raise on behalf of us. In lieu of flowers or gifts, our family humbly asks you to donate funds to Texas Tech University's Garrison Institute on Aging, one of Texas' leading institutions for the study of Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Visitation was at Charles W. Smith and Son Funeral Home on March 28, 2008. White Funeral Home of Lubbock, Texas, was in charge of services.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Charles W. Smith Memorial Chapel, 601 S. Tennessee, McKinney, Texas. Personal arrangements for the Hamby family were under the direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock and Charles W. Smith Funeral Home.
