Dr. Elton Bankhead, 82, of Plano, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 in a Fort Worth hospital.
Dr. Bankhead was born February 21, 1926 to Clarence and Minnie Pearl Bankhead in Lamesa, TX. After serving in World War II, he entered medical school and became an optometrist. He was devoted to his patients, serving them in Plano for over 50 years. He only recently retired in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bankhead of Burleson; son, Vance Bankhead of Plano; daughter, Melanie Lovett of Burleson; sisters, Nelda Pevehouse of Corona, CA, and Dorothy Kutch of Hemet, CA; and was the loving grandfather of four grandchildren: Mikayla Stanford, Isabel Lovett, Samuel Lovett and Cooper Lovett.
Dr. Bankhead was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, C.L. Bankhead.
Services will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes in Fort Worth. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth.
