" Plano used to be a safe place. Now it seems all the foreigners and other "undesireables" are moving in. It will not be long before this "Richardson" effect spreads straight through our "safe" neighborhoods and schools to the "New Plano's" - Frisco, McKinney and beyond. Plano police are the best equipped in the DFW area - FLIR on every Tahoe and state of the art communication systems. They are also the finest bunch of law enforcement individuals you could hope to have protecting your community. It is time to stop being so politically correct and start asking questions. What was a this obviously out of place person doing driving around residential streets near a school on a Wednesday morning in Plano? If it looks out of place, that's probable cause enough for this potential juror. If we don't stand up now, we will suffer the consequences of political- correctness-paralysis. Plano used to be an All-American City - a beautiful place to raise a family. Now we have random drive bys in the heart of West Plano during broad daylight. For the sake of our children and our community, support your Police Department by reporting anything that looks suspicious. "

" I moved my family to west Plano 3 years ago thinking that this was a nice place to live and raise kids. Our neighborhood seems to be filled with unfriendly people. My car has been broken into 3 times in my own driveway at night. We're thinking about moving due to these types of incidents. I grew up in a less affluent area but I knew almost everyone in the neighborhood and I dont remember any crime or vandalism to our home or cars. Adios Plano. "

Its another Richardson in the making wrote on Jun 27, 2008 9:23 AM:
" " We're seeing many changes, and I spoke off the record with someone on a city committee last year who stated that, because of all the apartments being constructed due to limited land availabllity, and the city's eagerness to provide housing alternatives beyond single-family, "Plano is going to be another Richardson within 10 years." And based on what I'm seeing here in far north Plano, I believe that statement to be coming true. There is a definite increase in crime and it's getting too close to home! I am in total support of our fine police force and know they have a very difficult job to do each day. "

" I grew up in a nice area of Richardson and have been in Plano for about 10 years. My neighborhood has been extremely safe (except kids breaking into cars and such), but lately it has been going downhill! It is NOT the Richardson "foreigners"...it is the unsupervised white and black kids doing most of this! Some trash from other areas of DFW comes over to visit and rob here, but most of it is coming from the locals. As bad as it seems (and I am truly fed up right now), it is still better than 95% of the places in this fine country of ours! Help the police and watch your kids...their friends and take an active role in your neighborhood! Blaming the foreigners is idiotic...it's much closer to home. "
Uh huh wrote on Jun 30, 2008 10:24 AM:
" No, it's not foreigners...except for that guy who stabbed another guy to death recently. Oh, and the East Plano neighborhoods that are saturated with Latinos are the safest neighborhoods in Plano. Uh huh. They are just hard working people...who get arrested for public intoxication and belong to gangs, etc. The fact that East Plano's decline corresponds with the rise in Latino population means nothing. It's the White kids doing the murdering and graffiti and gang activity. The Hannah Montana gang is ruthless! "
Locals are the problem in my neighborhood but... wrote on Jun 30, 2008 8:29 PM:
" In my far north Plano neighborhood, most of the crimes are committed by local white and black kids. The parents are negligent and usually have an attitude that we shouldn't suggest THEIR kid is part of the problem. - even when the kid is caught in the act! However, we do have groups of people from McKinney and Dallas congregating in our area causing trouble. We have several apt and townhouse complexes built in the past 2 years (between McDermott & 121) which are supposedly "luxury" but just wait... "

" Did you know Plano had five murders last month? That's more than the year usually holds. There are good and bad parts of every town. There is nothing stopping kids from South Oak Cliff coming and breaking into your cars. You don't know if it's locals are not. "

It is NOT the time to play the BLAME GAME!!!!! If we are sick of the way things are....then we need to thinlk about what we can do to CHANGE them!!!!!! "

" Plano is going downhill, I've had more bad things happen to me in Plano than anyplace I've ever lived, including Dallas. I've had my front window shot out, my bike stolen and serial rapist living in my apartments. If we have such a GREAT police force, where are they when you really need them. As soon as I can, I'm outta Plano. "
