E-mail This StoryThe Dallas Business Journal named Doctor Barton Sachs, Medical Director at the Scoliosis Center of Excellence at Medical Center of Plano, as 2008 Health Care Hero.
Dr. Sachs was recognized in the “Physician” category for his role in establishing the Scoliosis Center of Excellence at Medical Center of Plano as well as his devotion to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities. His contributions to the field of spinal disease have changed the manner in which scoliosis and other spinal deformities are treated.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a Health Care Hero and to work with such a great team every day at the Scoliosis Center of Excellence at Medical Center of Plano,” said Dr. Sachs. “Our dedicated staff makes it possible for us to continue to advance the treatment for scoliosis and other spinal deformities.”
According to the Dallas Business Journal, Dr. Sachs was recognized for his devotion to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities. His contributions to the field have changed the manner in which scoliosis and other spinal deformities are treated.
“Dr. Sachs’ recognition is well deserved,” said Sue Harmon, office manager for the Scoliosis Center of Excellence. “It is clear through his compassion for his patients and his work that he is devoted to his profession.”
The Medical Center of Plano appointed Dr. Sachs to form the Scoliosis Center of Excellence in February 2008.
“We hit the ground running in April and look forward to growing and treating more patients,” Harmon said. “The care that patients receive at the Scoliosis Center upholds the hospital’s value of patient satisfaction.”
Sachs is also on the faculty of the Texas Back Institute and is an adjunct professor of surgery and rehabilitation medicine at Albany Medical College. He is president of the American Board of Spine Surgery and holds leadership roles in numerous other professional organizations.
The Health Care Heroes Awards seek to honor those organizations and individuals who epitomize the spirit embodied in the word hero. According to the Dallas Business Journal, nominations for its “Health Care Heroes” are solicited in their print and online publications. A panel of editors at the Dallas Business Journal gave careful consideration to each nomination before selecting the winners. This year the program was expanded to include 12 categories after receiving a record number of entries. The recipients were recognized in a special Health Care Heroes Edition of the Dallas Business Journal on Aug. 1.
According to the Medical Center of Plano Web site, the Scoliosis Center of Excellence specializes in the treatment of all spinal deformities in both adults and children age 14 and up. This includes scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis. The Scoliosis Center of Excellence is designed specifically for the patient and their families, to care for their needs, answer their questions and provide the best care available today. The Scoliosis Center of Excellence is among the premier sites for scoliosis and deformity correction surgery in the country.
