Little Elm: Accident takes life of Maypearl woman
By Penny Rathbun, Staff writer
An accident at the intersection of Savannah Boulevard and U.S. Highway 380 took the life of a Maypearl, Texas woman on Christmas Day.
At about 4:14 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Corynne Turnpaugh, 61, turned left from Savannah Boulevard heading east on U.S. 380. According to Little Elm police, she failed to yield the right-of-way and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Kevin Whitley, 27, of Lewisville. Turnpaugh was driving a 2001 gold Oldsmobile Alero.
Turnpaugh was transported by CareFlite to Parkland Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. There were three passengers in the Pathfinder, including two children ages 2 and 3 years old. Both were transported by Little Elm Fire Department ambulance to the Denton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

" 380 is real dangerous. People are speeding and it appears you have time to make a turn but when cars are going so fast it is real dangerous. You would think law enforcement would be there and traffic lights could be put in. "
