More than 100 performers will take the stage at the Eisemann Center in Richardson in a collaboration of dancers, musicians and choreographers from around the world for the performances of the Divine Performing Arts on Feb. 2-4.

Locally presented by the Southern USA Falun Dafa Association and New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) Dallas, Divine Performing Arts, a dance and music company based in New York, will portray the rich tapestry that is the history of China through music and dance.

“Divine Performing Arts brings to life traditional Chinese dance and music through their choreography and costume,” said Steve Sun, marketing manager for NTDTV. “DPA is a premier Chinese dance and music company composed of leading artists from around the world and is in their third year of touring the world.”

The performers will exhibit the grace, fluidity, balance and inner strength of traditional Chinese culture with masterful choreography and graceful routines lighting up the stage and gorgeously costumed dancers moving in stunning patterns, Sun said. State-of-the-art backdrops will coordinate with music from a live orchestra featuring a blend of Chinese and Western instruments.

The story-based dance will portray the stories of the past and present and is expected to captivate audiences of all ages and walks of life. The show is bilingual and will even be hosted by emcees in Chinese and English, Sun said.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring entertainment of this caliber to the community,” said Howard Song, representative of Southern USA Falun Dafa Association, in a prepared statement. “The show promises to be as educational as it is entertaining, and should appeal to the whole family as well as a wide range of people. You could travel all the way to China and never see this kind of quality.”

According to the DPA Web site, the non-profit dance and music company is distinguished by its conscious effort to present Chinese culture free from the influence of China’s communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. The group aspires to create performances that not only entertain, but more deeply educate, enrich and inspire. The company’s rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world at large. All the choreography and music are original.

Last year, DPA performed for more than 600,000 live audience members on the stages of major venues in 66 cities around the world, including Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Hailed by critics as “superb,” “resplendent,” “inspired,” and “wonderfully positive,” DPA will perform 200 shows in more than 80 cities in 20 countries; each year, new cities are added to the tour.

The Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour will be at the Eisemann Center in Richardson at 7:30 p.m. from Feb. 2-4. For information or to purchase tickets visit www.divineshows.com/dallas or call 972-744-4650.
