Plano West-Cedar Hill at Texas Stadium tonight!
Clearly the headline to this blog is addressing the egregious error made in the tease last week. I’d like to push the blame on to someone else, especially considering … never mind, but at the end of the day it is my responsibility and I apologize for the mistake.
On to last week’s Plano Senior-Euless Trinity game, what a contest! Very reminiscent of Plano’s opening round matchup with Rockwall last year, with plenty of Wildcat fans attributing that victory to the Plano mystique. I still feel bad for that Yellow Jackets receiver who pulled up with the apparent hamstring injury n there was nobody between him and the end zone.
Once the Wildcats and Trojans got into shootout mode Saturday night, I thought Plano really had a shot to pull it out, and clearly they did as the game wasn’t decided until there were 15 seconds left. There is always next year for Plano n but the state title clock is now at 14 years and ticking.
Allen won the game, but appears to have lost its quarterback and everyone is in a tizzy. People are asking if Tucker Carter can be anywhere near as effective for the Eagles as Matt Brown, but I think that is the wrong question. The real thing Allen and Odessa Permian fans should be focused on is what the Eagles did on the ground last week. Allen had almost 450 yards rushing with only 75 coming from Brown.
Jeremiah Williams looked like a man possessed behind that full-grown offensive line and Uzoma Nwachukwu, who prefers his nickname to be spelled EAZY, got involved via multiple reverses and in the passing game. If the Eagles are anywhere near as effective on the ground Friday, their defense will be enough to keep them in the game and moving on to a likely rematch with Euless Trinity.
My focus is still lingering with football, but for volleyball fans n check out Thursday’s issue of the Plano Star Courier (I love shameless plugs) for the all-district package.
Looking forward to basketball, Plano West’s boys team looks like a beast already, but you have to be impressed with Plano’s victory against South Oak Cliff n good for new head coach Phil Parlin, I really hope he does well.
And I hope all of you have a happy Thanksgiving. Until next time … I wonder, what exactly turducken tastes like?
