State softball schedule released

After qualifying for the 2009 UIL State Softball Tournament, Celina, Mesquite Poteet and Plano East now know who they will face at McCombs Field in Austin.
As expected, none of the roads are easy. No. 2 Celina may be the favorites in Class 3A as the team defeated previously-ranked No. 1 Van in the regional finals.
Poteet opens state in Class 4A against No. 1 New Braunfels Canyon and East opens Class 5A play against No. 2 Smithson Valley, which swept No. 1 Austin Bowie over the weekend in the regional finals.
Thursday, June 4 - Semifinals
1A Semifinals
8:30 a.m. - Alto (28-7) vs. Lindsay (24-8-2)
11 a.m. - Iola (28-4) vs. Forsan (24-9)
2A Semifinals
2:00 p.m. - Brock (31-6) vs. Elysian Fields (31-7)
4:30 p.m. - Early (33-4) vs. Hallettsville (31-9)
3A Semifinal
7:30 p.m. - Needville (32-8) vs. Gatesville (32-9)
Friday, June 5 - Semifinals

8:30 a.m. - Celina (36-5) vs. Longview Spring Hill (29-8)
4A Semifinals
11:30 a.m. - Angleton (38-8-1) vs. Azle (27-13-2)
2:00 p.m. - New Braunfels Canyon (36-3) vs. Mesquite Poteet (35-9-1)
5A Semifinal
5:00 p.m. - Pearland (36-6-1) vs. Cedar Park Vista Ridge (29-11)
8:00 p.m. - Spring Branch Smithson Valley (28-5) vs. Plano East (23-15-1)
