SWIMMING: Aqua Racers Mayfield breaks four team records

After setting two records last week, Travis Mayfield doubled that mark Friday breaking the two records he had set the week before and shattering two more to lead the Carrollton Aqua Racers at the Carrollton 2 Meet that took place at Rosemeade Pool.
It was a big day for the Aqua Racers as Mayfield broke four records, Chase Temple topped two marks, while Alia Bales, Gabby Crowhurst, Adeline Thrower, Keith Mathews and Jay Nguyen also set records.
Competing in the boys 11-12 age group, Mayfield broke records in the 50-yard freestyle (30.02), 50 breaststroke (40.97), 100 freestyle (1:12.67) and 100 individual medley (1:22.07).
Swimming in the girls 8-and-under group were Bales, Crowhurst and Thrower. Bales set a new record in the 25 backstroke (23.75), Crowhurst’s mark was in the 25 breaststroke (23.21) and Thrower set a record in the 25 freestyle (18.69).
In the boys 8-and-under division, Keith Matthews set a record in the 100 individual medley (2:05.25). Jay Nguyen set a new record in the boys 18-and-over group in the 50 breaststroke (34.60).
The Aqua Racers competed in 392 events and turned in personal best times in 270 of the events. The team faced off against teams from Allen, Irving, Farmers Branch and Grand Prairie.
The squad’s next meet will be Saturday at Frisco against teams from Frisco, Plano and Paris.
