County: DCTA to review fixed-route service in Denton
From staff reports
In an effort to better serve residents, increase ridership and improve service efficiency, the Denton County Transportation Authority is conducting a comprehensive review of all services. During the months of June and July, the Denton Connect services are being reviewed. A series of public meetings will be held to gather comments from area residents.
DCTA staff has developed preliminary recommendations for service improvements to the Denton services. These improvements include frequency along Bell Avenue and Hickory Street, greater connectivity between UNT and TWU with the Square and DCTA Central, and the consolidation of Routes 1 and 8 into existing UNT Shuttle routes.
DCTA staff is also proposing to eliminate less productive sections of Route 4 and 5 to allow for consistent 40-minute frequency on all routes with even greater frequency in the urban core. Through public feedback, DCTA hopes to refine the draft proposal and develop recommended service changes that will better meet the travel needs of Denton residents and the students of UNT and TWU, according to a release.

" As a Denton County resident not in Denton or the DCTA corridor, how much of this am I subsidizing with zero benefit? "
