Dr. Bobby Burns named C-FB ISD Superintendent finalist
From Staff Reports
The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Bobby C. Burns the Superintendent finalist.
“Dr. Bobby Burns has been on a nine-month interview. We have been impressed with his calm, firm leadership. We believe that he is a man of integrity and high moral character,” said Lynn Chaffin, board president. “As board members, we have received unsolicited input from the community … from business leaders, parents, teachers, and staff. While no one in a leadership role will make everyone happy, by far and away, the input has been very positive for Dr. Burns.”
Burns is currently serving as the district’s acting superintendent.
Burns began his career in the Garland Independent School District as a high school English teacher and athletics coach. After two years in Garland ISD, he taught and coached in the Richardson Independent School District for five years. Burns came to C-FB ISD in 1988 as a high school English teacher and athletics coach. During his 21 years in C-FB ISD, he has served as assistant principal at R. L. Turner High School, principal at DeWitt Perry Middle School and assistant superintendent for administration and personnel.
Burns has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M at Commerce as well as a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas.
Burns is married to Tina and they have two sons, Taylor and Bryon.

" So we just went ahead and hired the acting superintendent? That could have been done 9 months ago. I certainly hope Dr. Burns serves us well, but that seemed like a lot of work just to promote the guy we already had. "
