After several long months of building n and much to the delight of the enthusiastic support of residents, businesses and area officials n the campus is now ready to welcome new students.

A grand opening ceremony for the new facility will be held on Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. Representatives from the city of Dallas, Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce and neighboring chambers, Dallas ISD and area school districts, along with local organizations and churches, have been invited to attend.

Opening remarks will be given by Eastfield President Jean Conway, Dallas County Community College District Chancellor Wright Lassiter, Pleasant Grove Executive Director Javier Olguín, members of the DCCCD Board of Trustees, Sen. Royce West, U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert.

The new 45,000-square-foot facility will house both the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce offices. The Wilkinson Center, a non-profit organization that serves the working poor who live in east and southeast Dallas, also will provide adult education classes at the campus. The Wilkinson Center will offer comprehensive case management services that focus on overcoming barriers to continued education with the goal of helping students graduate with an associate degree.
