Volleyball: Lady M’s split a pair of home matches
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, Staff writer
The Lady Marauders volleyball team played well into the night Tuesday, splitting a pair of five-game matches at home against tough competition in Arlington Martin and Highland Park.
Marcus came from behind to win its match against Martin, their first match of the day, 24-26, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 15-9.
But they were unable to hold a two-game advantage against Highland Park, falling, 18-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-10.
“I thought we played much better than we have been playing,” she said. “We played Highland Park last week and lost in two games. So to push them to five after we had already played a five-game match today was a good sign. We started to minimize our errors, got more positive points and were passing the ball better.”
Liles said Lauren Douglass played great against Martin, while Haley Neisler had an outstanding offensive match against Highland Park and a great defensive match against Martin.
The Lady Marauders play next at 7 p.m. Friday against Lake Highlands.
