Volleyball: Jags serve their way past Cedar Hill
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, Staff writer
Flower Mound’s volleyball team totaled 13 aces Friday, as the Lady Jaguars were able to take the game out of the hands of Cedar Hill’s middle players resulting in a 25-18, 23-25, 25-7, 25-22 win.
“We played really well,” said Marci Brinkman, Flower Mound coach. “Our serving game was on, we were aggressive on our assists and we did a good job of blocking, which allowed us to be more aggressive on defense.”
The Lady Jaguars had multiple players contribute to their ace total, including six from Liz Theesfeld, four from Erin Gonzales and three from Macey Singleton.
Brinkman was also impressed with the Lady Jaguars ability to bounce back after losing the second game.
“We fought back and fixed the mistakes we were having in the second game,” she said. “It shows the focus of the team and their ability to step up when they need to.”
In addition to leading in aces, Theesfeld led the team with 11 kills. Singleton added nine kills, with Kaitlyn Cole and Rachael Cunningham adding six and Briana Allmon chipping in with four.
Gonzales led with 18 assists and Foreman added nine.
Brinkman said Cunningham, Allmon and Singleton, each playing right side, were the key to the blocking, while the middle’s did a great job of closing.
The Lady Jaguars next play at 7 p.m. at home against Plano.
