The Allen Community Outreach is gearing up to host its fourth annual Golf Classic on Sept. 21 at the Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club in Fairview.
Driving ranges will open at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament will begin with a shotgun start team scramble at 1 p.m.
The tournament, which has been a sellout event for the past two years, was designed to be fun and enjoyable for players of all skill levels with a chance to win prizes while raising awareness for the needs of the Allen-Fairview-Lucas community at the same time.
“But our golfers are regular golfers and are very loyal to us, so we decided to revamp and slim down our tournament instead,” said Judy Webster, ACO executive director. “Registration costs were reduced and we opted not to host a dinner after the awards ceremony.”
Nearly 100 golfers have registered to play in the ACO Golf Classic on Monday.
Awards, raffle prizes and special hole prizes will be given out at 6 p.m. Prizes include tickets to a Dallas Mavericks basketball game, season tickets to the Allen Americans professional hockey team, a recliner from Stacy’s Furniture and various golf items.
“All the proceeds from the tournament are strictly for ACO’s emergency assistance programs, which provide rent and utility [payments] for a family or individual and Meals On Wheels,” Webster said.
The money collected will also help provide food from the ACO Food Pantry and clothing from the ACO Resale Shop. Through these programs, ACO helps families regain their independence. ACO’s efforts, through the generous support from the community, have helped 77 percent of its clients from becoming another homeless statistic.
The ACO Golf Classic signature sponsor is Zurich Financial Services Group; event sponsors are TXU Energy Aid and Texas Legacy Bank. Day sponsors are the Allen Americans professional hockey team, the Allen Arts Alliance, American National Bank and Aramark. Hole sponsors include Atrium Financial Services, Inc.; Henry Lessner - Fortune Financial Services, LLC; Pittenger, Nuspl and Crumley; and the Richardson Bike Mart. The Hole-In-One sponsor is Hempkins Insurance.
The tournament fee is $100 per individual golfer or $350 for a foursome. Registration booths open at 10 a.m.
Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club is located at 465 Scenic Ranch Circle in Fairview.
