The fight against drugs and violence in city neighborhoods has proven important to Plano residents.
Due to the dedication to fight against crime, the Plano Police Department was recognized by the Naional Association of Town Watch advising that they were selected as a National Award winner for their 2009 National Night Out participation. “The degree of participation in the National Night Out program directly reflects the level of commitment the community and police department share in their partnership to work,” said Gregory W. Rushin, Plano police chief.
This award is in recognition of the department’s participation in the 26th annual National Night Out program.
“The national program award looks not only at the quality of the program offered but also participation among neighborhoods and law enforcement,” said Rick McDonald Plano police spokesman. “This national recognition would not have been possible without the support of the citizen’s of Plano, local businesses and news media.”
The 2009 event involved 36.7 million people in 14,625 communities from all 50 states, United States territories and military bases worldwide.
