Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined Collin County Republicans in sending a holiday card to troops in Afghanistan. Among those signing the card were 8-year-old Caroline Carson of Allen, former Plano Mayor Jeran Akers, GOP county party chairman Fred Moses and many others on Monday afternoon in McKinney. The packed house in Craig Ranch included numerous elected officials. When asked if he needed a teleprompter to give his speech, Gov. Perry said no thank you. State Rep. Ken Paxton introduced the Governor, who launched into a speech about why Texas is strong and higher taxes are not the way to grow the economy. For more on Gov. Perry's visit, pick up a copy of your hometown newspaper. Slideshow and photos by Brian Bearden.
