In Allen on Saturday, followers of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and other faiths gathered for the Inter-Faith conference at the mosque on Hedgcoxe on the city line between Allen and Plano.
Plano Mayor Phil Dyer, Plano Police Chief Greg Rushin, Allen Police Chief Bill Rushing and Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell were on hand for the event.
The basic message was that each speaker wanted to leave the world a better place for their kids.
Each speaker said that although different paths are being taken, each religion was created by the same creator. Dyer and Terrell said that the two cities have shown that diverse faiths can come together to create great places to live, and the police chiefs said that they regularly turn to clergy to help keep the community safe.
The event was sponsored by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The Ahmadiyya Muslim community with a motto of "Love for all, hatred for none" is represented in 193 countries.
They believe that the prophesized Promised Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908).
The community is now led by Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the fifth successsor of the Promised Messiah.
