Celina students attend D-Now retreat

Discipleship Now (D-Now), a yearly weekend retreat for junior high and high school students to engage in Christian fellowship and growth, was held in January at the First Baptist Church of Celina.
Groups of students, arranged by age group and gender, spent the weekend in host homes of families who provided a place to stay for participating students.
The New Life Band lead the worship with great energy and strong sound, singing songs like “I Am Free” and “Come to My Rescue.”
The speaker for the weekend was Jeff Mangum, who generally spoke about the doctrines of Christianity as it pertains to forgiveness and reconciliation. His message was powerful, but contained humor.
Of the 140 students who attended D-Now, many openly professed the weekend was a life changing experience, noting the spirit of God moving through them.
On the final night of D-Now, students were moved to tears, some of them going to parents, and others to friends, to confess the problems in their life. It was a night of reconciliation and joy. The weekend was a hopeful turning point for many young souls.
