Clean Coppell 2010 to begin April 10 – 24, Earthfest 2010 set for April 24

The city of Coppell’s Clean Coppell 2010 program gets underway April 10 though April 24. The event will conclude with the annual Earthfest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 at Coppell Town Center.
The event is held to urge the community to become involved in beautifying Coppell.
“This is the second year we will hold this as a 14-day event,” said Cristal Rollins, community program coordinator for the city. “We are asking people to sign up in advance to participate.”
Joining the city during the 14-day event will be the Keep Coppell Beautiful organization.
“This is kind of our signature event for the board,” said Craig Pritzlaff, the chairman of KCB. “We encourage all residents to come out and enjoy the festivities on Saturday (April 24).”
Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and KCB will supply cleanup supplies, such as trash bags and gloves, to all volunteers. Registration closes at noon March 12.
“We usually get between 800 and 1,000 volunteers every year,” Rollins said. “Last year we had about 925 volunteers.”
Registration forms are available at www.ci.coppell.tx.us. Visit the recreation page under the special events/activities heading.
Cleanup locations include parks, street rights of way, an undeveloped area or a location the volunteer groups select.
With the annual Earthfest as the end point of the two-week event, there are already plans being made for the Earthfest event.
“We hope that the event will be bigger and better than last year,” Rollins said. “There will be educational booths, vendors, live music and entertainment for the kids.”
