Heard hosted Town Hall this evening

By Andrew Snyder, asnyder@acnpapers.com
The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney will be hosting a Town Hall meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the North Texas Municipal Water District’s use of eminent domain to place a 3,500 foot long sewage line through its grounds. Following last week’s demonstration at the site of pipeline construction, where Heard supporters gathered to protest what they see as a destructive intrusion, this meeting is the latest Heard-hosted event to call attention to its dispute with NTMWD.
“I think it is important for people to attend the town hall meeting so that they can ask questions and get a clear understanding of what has already happened and what is currently happening,” said Amber Caceres, Heard Marketing & Communications Director. “It will also give people a chance to speak out and stand up for what they believe in.
“We have had tremendous support from Heard Museum members and the community; we thank you all. People have been contacting the NTMWD, city officials, commenting on Facebook & Twitter, making donations, more than 100 people attended our demonstration last week and we have close to 15,000 petition signatures. I also appreciate the press and media support in covering this issue. They have always been wonderful to work with. Again, I encourage the public to come out, to learn about what is happening, to BE HEARD.”
