Plano Spring Football Update

Collin Brence defends a pass to Clayton Parling
By Jay DiNucci
With two weeks of spring practice remaining, Plano continues to have high expectations following last season’s strong finish into the playoffs only to loose to the eventual state 5A champion Euless Trinity. The first two scrimmages showed that the 2010 Wildcats have the ability to make big plays on offense along with a smothering defense.
At the first scrimmage, the Plano offense showed its still has big play capabilities after loosing some key offensive weapons to graduation. Connor Michelsen completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for 251 yards as the White defeated Maroon, 33-14. Michelsen connected with both Clayton Parlin and Steele Hoetger for 226 of the 251 yard. Rakeem Crawford had 71 yard on five carries. One was a 48-yard touchdown run.
During the second scrimmage, the defense controlled Plano’s big play offense. The first team defensive line got pressure on Michelsen during most of the game. In addition, Blair Burns, Brad Tipton and Collin Brence had outstanding secondary performances.
On Friday, June 4th, the Plano Quarterback Club will host a golf tournament at Ridgeview Ranch benefiting the Plano Wildcat Football Program. The tournament will be a shotgun start beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Team looks forward to meeting all alumni and supporters during this great event. Registration information can be found on the Quarterback Club website at www.planowildcatqbclub.com .

" Looks like a strong receiver group. Loved the catch between two defenders. "
