Johnson refutes claims he didn’t provide for son
By Andrew Snyder, asnyder@acnpapers.com
Regardless of any outcry over his decision to remain in his trustee’s seat, McKinney ISD board member Wade Johnson said that he plans to stay.
He also said he’s never tried to hide the fact he has a son, soon to be 8-years-old, out of wedlock.
“That’s why I’m amazed that this is an issue right now,” Johnson said. “The DWI, yeah I agree, is an issue, but my son has been my son and I’ve been his father since before he was born. He’s with me every weekend. I have an ongoing full fledged relationship with him. He’s my son.”
“So she and I had to go down to the courts and actually go on official child support through the attorney general’s office,” Johnson said. “We had to go through the court system. I was not sued for paternity, it’s just a matter of process in formalizing the fact that I’m paying child support, but it had to be documented through the attorney general’s office.”
On the court document, it is noted that Bennett waved all right to retroactive child support, and she confirmed that Johnson has been providing for his son since before his birth. Bennett said that Johnson is a good father and a good provider for her son and his five other children. She added that he spends a lot of time with her son.
Johnson said that while he considers his son a personal matter, former superintendent Tom Crowe and other members of the board knew about him. He said that he was there the day his son was born and he’s taken care of him every day since.
“I’m infuriated by people making the assumption that I don’t take care of my child,” Johnson said. “That couldn’t be further from the truth.”

" The story doesn't let in on to readers that Wade was married to another woman when he had his little boy. His wife was unaware that he was having a baby with another woman. Way to be a stand up guy and great father. Give me a break. The issue here is his ethics. Why does he continue to defend being a good father?? Tell us the whole story Wade. "

" It was failed to mention that while he was having an affair with Ms. Bennett, he had a wife & 5 other children at home. It is not just a DWI & paternity suit we talking about, it is also an extra-marital affair. "

" To Wade dont let these people bring you down by posting negativity. Man i been knowing you for a while and know you handle your business. To all these people that are trying to bring him down, there is a thing in the military that we call chain on command and from what I read he informed his high command of his issues. If they chose not to remove him from his seat then the rest of you HATERS just need to get on your knees and PRAY. Wade stay lifted up in prayer cause there are some people who got your back. "
