Volleyball: Marcus all alone in first

As the District 8-5A season nears its halfway point, Marcus’ volleyball team has taken over sole possession of first place.
The Lady Marauders (5-0) entered Friday night in a three-way tie for first with Allen and Hebron, but take over first after defeating the Lady Eagles (25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-8) coupled with a Hebron loss against Plano West (26-24, 14-25, 27-25, 25-21).
Liz Fortado led the Lady Marauders with 12 kills, while Lauren Douglass chipped in eight. Katie Neisler paced Marcus in both blocks (five) and digs (14) with Mallori Sando notching a team-high 20 assists.
