Texas Health Presbyterian Plano names new community relations director

Published: Wednesday, March 9, 2011 11:46 PM CST
Mary Jo Dean’s name radiates in the fields of health care, marketing and communications throughout the Collin County area. For more than two decades, she has offered her service and expertise in Plano, promoting patient care advancement and also serving as a board member for various causes.

On Monday, it was announced that Dean, the longtime standout employee for Medical Center of Plano, has been named the new director of community relations at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. Dean was the vice president of marketing at Medical Center of Plano.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to promote Texas Health Plano as an elite health care provider in Collin County,” Dean said. “My job is to tell the hospital’s story and encourage others to share their own chapter in outstanding care at Texas Health Plano.”

As director of community relations, Dean will work closely with hospital representatives to promote Texas Health Plano’s community outreach efforts. She will be called upon to spearhead the hospital’s multiple efforts to augment community health and other service projects.

Dean, in addition, will assist in furthering Texas Health Plano’s mission to improve fitness, health and wellness at six Plano ISD elementary schools, with the help of a $55,000 grant last year.

Dean’s new position will fit in well with her background. Her professional resume includes being a current member of the board of directors and a past board president of the Plano ISD Education Foundation, as well as a board member with both the Plano Rotary Club and the Plano Chamber of Commerce.

Dean’s resume also includes being named “Citizen of the Year” by the Plano Chamber of Commerce in 2006 and a graduate of Leadership Plano. Dean earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne University, a liberal arts Catholic college in St. Louis.

“Mary Jo Dean is a proven leader in the health care community,” said Dr. Jeffrey Canose, Texas Health Plano president, “and we feel extremely fortunate to be adding her skills and experience to the Texas Health Plano team.”
