McKinney police officials have exhausted all leads and suspended their investigation into a burglary at a Surrey Lane home that led to a shooting.

McKinney Police Lt. Mark Moyle said criminal investigation division (CID) investigators decided to suspend their investigation into the April 27 burglary that led to a shooting that severely injured the homeowner, Allan Stowers, due to the victim's lack of cooperation and some conflicting information that he provided to investigators.

Moyle said he could not elaborate on the information that Stowers provided that conflicts with the events or his previous statements until CID officials clear its release.

"It's still considered a burglary case," Moyle said. "It's suspended because of the fact that some of his information changed during the course of the investigation. He's also been uncooperative with investigators."

McKinney Police Deputy Chief Scott Brewer also noted that investigators have "currently exhausted all leads that have been provided to us."

As of Tuesday, no official charges or arrests have been made as a result of the incident, Moyle and Brewer said.

The shooting took place in the early morning hours of April 27 at a home in the 1700 block of Surrey Lane, leaving Stowers with a gunshot wound to the torso and police searching for the three men who may be responsible for shooting him, McKinney police officials said.

Moyle said the incident took place sometime before 3:37 a.m., which is when dispatchers received the initial call. Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim in his home.

Stowers told police he found three unidentified males rooting around his home and confronted them with a handgun. The suspects began to struggle with Stowers, and the gun either accidentally discharged or the suspects intentionally shot him with his own weapon, Moyle said.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived at the house and found Stowers. Paramedics transported Stowers first to Medical Center of McKinney and later to Parkland Memorial Hospital of Dallas for treatment. Parkland officials said he was initially listed in serious condition, but Moyle said doctors changed his condition to critical before moving it back to serious. His release date could not be obtained from the hospital since officials said he requested that his medical condition and status not be released to the public.

McKinney police officials are asking for the public's help on this case. Moyle said anyone with any information is asked to contact the McKinney Police Department at 972-547-2758.

Stowers could not be reached for comment.
