Don't sweat the small stuff
By Stephanie Kunkle
When you step outside your front door and spontaneously start sweating, that's when you know the terrible Texas heat is calling. There is no use for doing your hair or makeup, ladies. And don't even try cooking dinner because you'll just end up sweating profusely. So what is there to do, then? It's simple: stay inside and crank the AC!
Take the advice from a local lifeguard and save yourself, your kids, friends, family members, etc. from the physical damage. I'm sure it sounds nice to go out and tan everyday at Hawaiian Falls or the local pool, but the truth is you're aging yourself quicker. I've seen plenty of heat strokes, dehydration and skin cancer victims to warn you now to save yourself. Especially with the ozone layer being four times as bad as the generation before you. If you do go outside, put a ton of sunscreen on and try to stay in the shade, and drink double the amount of water you need, too; 4 liters should do.
When you don't absolutely have to go outside, stay inside! I know it probably doesn't sound as eventful as going to the park or a picnic outside; instead you can look through those pictures in that closet you never get a chance to look through because you're so busy. Or if you want to switch up your house and still get a little workout with out getting bored, try switching around some furniture in your room or cleaning out your closet. Hold a movie night at your house and invite some friends over.
You also don't want to forget that this is the time of year to take that vacation you have always wanted. Or take a day to just chill at the house and catch up on your sleep. If you don't do it now, you'll regret it when work or school starts back.
Enjoy your summer -- that way you'll be ready for the year to start again.
