North Texas Nadadores Compete at USA Swimming National Championships, 3 Earn Olympic Trial Cuts

North Texas Nadadores Ted Singley and Aaron Greene competed in the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. The meet was held August 2-6, 2011.

Ted Singley finished 19th out of 101 swimmers who were eligible to compete in the 1500m Freestyle. His time of 15:36.89 qualified him to compete in the USA Olympic Trials to be held in Omaha, Nebraska June 25� July 2, 2012.

Aaron Greene finished 19th out of 125 eligible swimmers in the 200m Backstroke. Aaron also qualified to compete in the Olympic Trials next summer.

From these swims at Nationals, both Aaron Greene and Ted Singley were selected to the 2011-2012 National Youth Team. The National Youth team is comprised of the top six swimmers in each event that are 18 & Under.

Thirteen Nadadores qualified and competed in the 2011 Speedo USA Swimming Junior National Championships August 8-12, 2011 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. The Junior National Team consisted of Taylor Derevyanik (400m Medley Relay), Lyndsie Gibson (400m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke), Curtis Goss (100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 200m IM), Aaron Greene (100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle Relay, 400m Medley Relay), Austin Nguyenphu (200m Breaststoke, 200m IM), Ian Rea (50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle Relay, 400m Medley Relay), John Remetta (100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 200m IM), Brett Ringgold (50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 200m IM, 400m Freestyle Relay, 400m Medley Relay), Jonathan Roberts (400m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 200m IM, 400m IM), Ted Singley (200m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle Relay, 400m Medley Relay), Rebecca Upton (400m Medley Relay), Elise Weisert (100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 400m Medley Relay), Emily Zapinski (200m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 400m Medley Relay).

NTN Boys placed 9th overall at Junior Nationals with 122 teams competing. The combined NTN Boys & Girls team score placed NTN 17th in team competition. This is the best showing ever for NTN in national competition and the highest place finish for any North Texas team in 2011. Coach Bill Christensen stated it was a very fast swim meet and our kids did outstanding.� �It is great to have 3 swimmers with Olympic Trial qualifying swims and more swimmers on the bubble�.

Highlights from Junior Nationals:

Boys 400m Medley Relay (Aaron Greene, Brett Ringgold, Ted Singley, and Ian Rea) 10th �3:54.09 - New North Texas USA Swimming Record.

Aaron Greene: 1st in the 200m Backstroke and 3rd in the 100m Backstroke (57.15). Qualified in both events for USA Olympic Trials.

Brett Ringgold: 12th in the 50m Freestyle (USA Olympic Trial Cut and new North Texas Record-23.46) and 15th in the 100m Freestyle (tied previous North Texas Record-51.78).

Ted Singley: 5th in the 200m Butterfly � (USA Olympic Trial Cut-2:01.50), 9th in the 800m Freestyle-(8:13.78), 11th in the 400m Freestyle (USA Olympic Trial Cut-3:58.52).

Jonathan Roberts: achieved National Cuts in both the 800m Freestyle(8:20.55) and 1500m Freestyle(15:56.82).

The North Texas Nadadores are a year round age-group swim team offering instruction, training, and competition. The team is a Silver Medal Club Member of USA Swimming and athletes train in the Carroll Independent School District�s Aquatic Center in Southlake. Swimmers are from Southlake, Argyle, Colleyville, Grapevine, Euless, Fort Worth, Keller, North Richland Hills, Watauga, and Westlake.
