The Plano Dance Theatre is concocting a comedic brew of artistic dance next weekend, inviting the public to come along and investigate Plano's "most haunted theater."
"Ghost Trackers" is a lighthearted parody of hit TV shows like "Ghost Hunters" and "Destination Truth." In the performance, the troupe will accompany the Paranormal Organization of Plano [POOP] at the Courtyard Theatre near historic downtown Plano to help stir up the residual spirits of the city's past.
"There's a whole storyline to it," said Performance Ensemble Director Katie Miller. "It's kind of like the Ghost Trackers are interrupting the show. We're providing the entertainment while the Ghost Trackers are looking for ghosts."
"Every show we do is like this in which we do a full-out show -- no dance recitals," Miller said. "It gives the kids a lot more responsibility and gives them a character. I think we have a lot more boys because of that."
Last year's Halloween production of "Trek or Treat" was another comedic musical in which the Starship Enterprise became stuck in a time warp, taking the audience on an adventure through various time periods, intertwined with elaborate dance performances.
"The biggest difference between our dance program [and others] is that we are able to incorporate drama and dance into the theater," Miller said. "It makes it a lot more entertaining."
Performances will be held Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. The Courtyard Theatre is located at 1509 H. Avenue in Plano. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Plano Dance Theatre at 214-287-7816 or visit www.theplanodancetheatre.com.
