Plano's first baby of 2012 was welcomed into the world at 6:41 a.m. on New Year's Day by Charles and Christi Langley.
Dallas Carter was born after a quick labor at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano and weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.
"We are so excited," said Christi, a teacher at Rice Middle School. "His due date was Jan. 5 so he was a little early."
The longtime Plano residents were also welcomed with a gift basket from the hospital to congratulate Dallas on his impeccable timing.
"We thought, 'how lucky are we,'" Christi said. "It was a perk because obviously we couldn't control when he would come into the world."
Christi said she can't wait to share the special story of Dallas' birth with him when he's old enough, and added while there may not be another New Year's baby in the family, future siblings are definitely an option.
"He's heaven on a stick, everything has just been so euphoric for us," Christi said. "It's surreal, we are on a cloud up there; it's unbelievable."
