Collin Creek Mall selects Children's Advocacy Center as nonprofit partner

Published: Wednesday, February 8, 2012 2:59 PM CST
Collin Creek Mall has chosen the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County as it nonprofit partner and will work with the Plano organization, participating in fund-raising events and public awareness initiatives throughout 2012.

“One of the guiding principles of Rouse Properties, owners of Collin Creek Mall, is to strengthen the community in which we do business. The Children’s Advocacy Center has been a champion for children’s rights since 1992 and works diligently to improve the lives of children who are abused and neglected,” said Sandra LaClave, SCSM, SCMD, general manager of the shopping center. “We look forward to helping Children’s Advocacy further their mission by raising awareness of the work it does.”

As part of its commitment to CACCC, Collin Creek Mall solicited donations of toys for infants and toddlers at a recent mall event. Coins that are thrown in the shopping center’s fountain and that are deposited in the coin race will be donated to CACCC. Additionally, Collin Creek Mall will spotlight the nonprofit at mall events to help raise awareness and recruit volunteers for the organization.

Collin Creek Mall has a longstanding tradition of community involvement and supports various organizations by hosting events and participating in volunteer activities. With its central location in Collin County, the shopping center is a natural gathering place for charitable events and has served as the starting point for the Komen 3-Day for the Cure, hosted the Scleroderma Walk for three years and provided indoor space for local chapters of Cub Scouts and the Kiwanis. During the holiday season, volunteers from The Salvation Army staff the Angel Tree and throughout the year, Carter BloodCare holds blood drives. Collin Creek Mall has also worked with Habitat for Humanity, Second Chance SPCA, Humane Society of Richardson and more.

“There are many groups doing good work here in the areas surrounding Collin Creek Mall,” said Ms. LaClave. “We will continue to support the organizations we have worked with in the past and look forward to helping the Children’s Advocacy Center going forward.”

The mission of Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County [CACCC] is to provide safety, healing and justice to children victimized by abuse or neglect. Since its founding in 1992, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County has served more than 38,000 children. The CACCC is recognized both statewide and nationally as a Children’s Advocacy Center [CAC] and has influenced child-protection legislation including Ashley’s Laws. The organization also serves as a training facility for professionals in the child abuse prevention and intervention field.
