This is the second time that McKinney Boyd High School has had one of its students receive a State Farm Texas Scholar award (previously in 2008). This year, the Program received over 1,500 nominations for this award. The competition to earn 1 of the 50 Scholar of Merit awards granted this year was extremely strong, and these fifty Scholars of Merit represent the talent and character to be the leaders of the future of Texas and our country. The competition for the STATE FARM TEXAS SCHOLAR Award was limited to the fifty Scholars of Merit and was based on updated credentials, additional recommendations, and an essay on “What does being a good neighbor mean to you? How have your life experiences shaped this view and how do you hope to be able to embody this in the future?” At the conclusion of that competition, Dillon was one of the top 4 Stage II awardees.
