As a part of the celebration of Week of the Young Child, April 23-27, the staff at Pearson Early Childhood School in Plano ISD thought it would be fun to have a collection drive…something that their 3 and 4 year old students would understand and be excited about. What better items to collect than TOOTHBRUSHES & TOOTHPASTE!
Pearson students and parents really got behind this toothbrush/toothpaste drive with a grand total of 790 toothbrushes and 282 tubes of toothpaste collected. On Tuesday, May 1st, students and staff presented the dental hygiene items to Cherie Wiser, Chairman of Operation School Bell®, one of the programs of Assistance League® of Greater Collin County.
In the Operation School Bell® program, members provide new clothing and dental hygiene kits to elementary schoolchildren in need in six school districts (Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Lovejoy, and Prosper). In addition, members provide clothing as needed to CITY House (a children’s shelter in Plano). The children who receive this clothing and dental hygiene kit are referred to Assistance League by school counselors.
