SAVANT

Horace William Savant, born June 3, 1922, in Edna, Louisiana, and passed away May 13, 2012, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 89.
Mr. Savant was an avid sports fan and played basketball during his high school years.
He served his country in the US Army, during WWII and The Battle of the Bulge.
Horace retired after working 45 years in the oil and gas industry, and worked in real estate in his later years.
He was described by many as being a pillar of strength at the Peace Church, where he and Mrs. Savant have been members for over seven years. His love for his family was undeniable and he made sure they were always taken care of.
Horace is preceded in death by his parents, Pierre O. Savant and Effie F. Morris, three brothers, and three sisters.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Faye Savant, daughters, Elizabeth Gaye Grun, Faith Felice Bertram, and Hope Suzanne Savant, son, Joseph Elias Savant, grandchildren; Jonathan David Bertram, Elizabeth Hope Brinkley, Esther Joy Curry, Samuel Savant Grun, Jordan Jospeh Savant, Rachel Gabrielle Savant, great-granddaughter, Ariana Nicole Brinkley, brothers, Lee Savant and Carl Wayne Savant, and sister, Karen Zeigler.
Visitation was held Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 6-9 p.m. at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite. Funeral service were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Peace Church, 2401 N. Beltline Road, Mesquite, TX 75150, with Pastor James David Baker officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
