Celina Area Heritage Association holds Memorial Day observance
The Celina Area Heritage Association will hold Celebrate Freedom at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church in Celina.
Holocaust survivor Mike Jacobs is the speaker. In 1939 when he was 14, Mike Jacobs was deported to a Nazi concentration camp where he remained until he was liberated on May 5, 1945.
After the program at the First Baptist Church everyone will adjourn to the Celina Area Heritage Museum for refreshments. Jacobs will sign copies of his book, “Holocaust Survivor: Mike Jacobs' Triumph over Tragedy.”
Attendees are also invited to visit Celina's veterans' memorial that honors Celina veterans that have been killed in action. The memorial is on the square in Celina just a block from the museum.
