Celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a free Lewisville street party

By Darla Atlas
As Queen Elizabeth marks her 60th year on the throne, she has reportedly established two rules for the Diamond Jubilee: Use of public funds should be kept to a minimum, and people should not be “forced to celebrate.”
So that’s a relief. But for those who actually wish to celebrate – and can’t make it to England for the festivities – they have a free, fun option in Lewisville.
Slimming World, a British-based weight-loss company which recently opened its first location in the United States, is hosting a street party from noon until 2 p.m. on June 2. (The event is free; a can of food for charity is requested.) Revelers will enjoy free food and drink while it lasts, a bounce house, magicians, a deejay and plenty of British accents to make it all even more authentic.
The fun takes place in front of the Slimming World center at 2404B S. Stemmons Freeway in Lewisville. For more information, call 972-480-4323 or visit www.slimmingworldusa.com.
