By Colleen Hildebrandt
CARROLLTON- A teacher at R.L. Turner High School received the Teacher of the Year Award at the LINC North Texas spring gala May 4.
Liz Binion has been teaching at the high school for 10 year. She was recognized for her commitment to improving her students' lives and getting them on track for a better future during her 5 years teaching a college preparatory course.
"Liz was selected for the award based on her excellence in inspiring students and facilitating their success," said Oscar Benavides, executive director of LINC North Texas.
At the gala, Binion shared some of the amazing growth that she has seen in her students, and her students spoke about the dramatic impact Binion has had on their lives.
"She changed my life," said senior Itzel Garcia de Alba, through tears.
The sentiment was echoed by the other students in attendance as well.
