Philip Craig Shelton was born 8-2-67 and died 5-12-12.
A white car cut him off on I-30 while he was on his motorcycle, forcing him into the HOV wall. He survived the crash with broken bones for a week, but died from the stress of the injuries. The white car never stopped.Philip was born in Dallas, TX to John Robert (Bob) Shelton and Virginia (Ginny) Mae Stampfer Shelton.
He owned a home in Kaufman, Texas.
He had a 24-year career with Overnite Transportation (now UPS Freight) driving big rigs, and made many loyal friends there. He started a business, Bigfoot Lawncare and Landscaping, which was successful for many years, and was occasionally a bounty hunter.
He built custom motorcycles, raced stock cars, and took up speed skating to spend time with his son. He loved the beach and motorcycle rallies. His RV was always Party Central. He had a quick temper, but was quick to forgive. He loved Jack Daniels, classic rock, riding his Harley, and children. He hated dishonesty, racists and injustice, and would always stand up to a bully or complain about a workplace wrong.
Philip had a generous trusting heart and was a hopeless romantic whooften got his heart stomped on. He was married and divorced three times, remaining on good terms with his exes and stepchildren Kimberly and Brian Garrett, and granddaughter Perry.
Philip was pre-deceased by his mother, Ginny Shelton; (step) brother-in-law, Danny Beaver; and cousins, Pamela Lucas and Dakota Dykes.
He his survived by his father, Bob Shelton; son, Christopher Craig Shelton; sister, Julie Renee Shelton; stepmother, Barbara Shelton; stepsister, Brenda Beaver, and her son Daniel Beaver and family; as well as the Lucas/Stauffer families and many loving friends and relatives.
Philip's organs were donated.
A memorial ride and service will be held on June 2. Riders will meet by 10:30 a.m. at LBJ and Military, where the Traildust Steak House used to be, leaving at 11. The service will be at Four Mile Lutheran Church, 460 VZCR 2607, Mabank, Texas 75147 at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Purple Heart Homes, Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, the A. Fern Norville Children's Emergency Shelter in Kaufman, Texas, or by performing a random act of kindness in Philip's name the week of June 3-9.

We will miss his amazing strength and ability to bear pain, his generous heart, his silly faces with crossed eyes, his funny stories, and his booming East Texas drawl. But mostly we will miss his laugh and hearing him tell us, "It'll all work out".
