Last Sunday, the Girl Scouts of Troop 9335 received their Bronze Award, a leadership adventure and the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. The award required the girls to complete an extensive service project. Their project was focused on local kids in our community and celebrated the 100th Birthday of Girl Scouting. Their project, appropriately named "Project Birthday Box," aimed at providing kids with wrapped boxes which included everything one needs to have a birthday party: cake mix, candles, frosting, paper goods, and even some games and party favors. They benefit families who may not have the resources to have a birthday party for their kids.
All the girls participated and each one put in a minimum of twenty hours towards the project. They spent their time preparing, collecting, wrapping and delivering the birthday boxes to the Boys and Girls Club of McKinney. Together with the staff and families of Walker and Reuben Johnson Elementary schools, they met their goal and delivered over fifty birthday boxes!
