Town East Mall Hosts Father's Day Car Show

Published: Wednesday, June 6, 2012 12:32 PM CDT
On Sunday, June 17 from 12 to 4 p.m., Town East Mall celebrates Father’s Day with a free Car Show featuring classic, antique and collector cars and trucks. The vehicles will compete for awards including Best of Show and 29 class and first-place awards. Approximately 150 cars and trucks from throughout the region are expected at the event.

There is no charge to attend the Car Show, but individuals are asked to bring canned goods or nonperishable food items to donate to Mesquite Social Services. Volunteers from the organization will be at the Car Show, accepting donations of food and money.

Along with the collection of cars and trucks, Dad and other car enthusiasts will be entertained by the antics of an Elvis impersonator. There will be fund-raising activities benefiting Mesquite Social Services, drawings for door prizes including Town East Mall Shop Etc. Gift Cards and more.

“We are hoping that the Car Show will become an annual Father’s Day tradition for dads and children in Mesquite and in Dallas. Anyone who knows about cars and trucks will surely appreciate the array of vehicles we are expecting. We will have cars from the 50s, muscle cars, hot rods, new models, old trucks, even a few motorcycles,” says Chad Hastings, general manager of Town East Mall and father of three. “We’re planning for the day to be a fun opportunity for Dads to hang out with the kids. Mom can come and maybe pop into the mall to enjoy a little shopping, too. I’ll be at the Car Show with my girls and I invite everyone to come and join in the fun.”

The Father’s Day Car Show will be held in the parking lot near I-635E, between Sears and Dillard’s. There is no charge for admission for spectators.

Owners of cars and trucks who want to enter their vehicles in the Father’s Day Car Show, should contact Art Hernandez at 214.893.3318 or Ron Standley at 972.998.3009. Entry fee is $20 per vehicle. The first 50 entries will receive a free event t-shirt.  In case of rain, the Car Show will be held on Sunday, June 24 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Town East Mall.
