They received their diplomas at graduation held May 31 at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. Superintendent Donny O'Dell and Director of Secondary Education Lizzy Kloiber presented the diplomas.
Celina High School Principal Rick DeMasters presented honor awards. Light-hearted moments came when he also was presented with something from each student as he shook their hand. Each graduate placed a brightly-colored Hawaiian lei around his neck. Now and again he had to take them off when the number of leis around his neck prevented him from seeing what he was doing.
Connor Bey, Jesse Franklin, Kaylyn Schultz, Heather Leigh and Mary Tippens presented the class history.
A traditional part of Celina commencement exercises is the songs the seniors sing. CHS math teacher and senior sponsor Valerie Carey manages to turn seniors into a choral group for graduation. This year she directed them as they sang “Uinwritten”, “I Hope You Dance”, and “Good Riddance, Time of your Life”. The senior choir ensemble distinguished themselves when they sang the “National Anthem.”
The 2012 class motto is “Together we experienced life, separately we will pursue our dreams, and forever our memories will remain.”
