Sammy Kershaw slated June 29 at MPAC

A man often referred to as the heir apparent to George Jones will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, in the Courtroom Theater at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC).
Sammy Kershaw, perhaps best known for "She Don't Know She's Beautiful" and other songs that appeared on his platinum albums, will be the latest of several well-known musical artists to perform at MPAC.
Other renowned recordings by Kershaw include "I Can't Reach Her Anymore, "National Working Woman's Holiday" and "Love of My Life."
"Since his debut on the music scene in the early '90s, Kershaw has remained one of the most consistent power hitters in country music with a chain of hit records and sellout tours," said Ty Lake, MPAC director.
She added, "We are thrilled to continue to bring such high-caliber performers to McKinney. Sammy Kershaw entertains to sold-out crowds all across the country, and the acoustics of our intimate Courtroom Theater will definitely offer audiences an unforgettable experience."
Kershaw has also delved in politics. He ran for lieutenant governor in Louisiana in 2007 and received 30 percent of the vote. He tried again in 2010 and lost despite getting the most votes in 31 of Louisiana's 64 parishes.
In 2008, he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of fame. In 2010, he was inducted into the Louisiana Songwriters Association Hall of Fame.
