Crash sends two residents to area hospitals

Two Flower Mound residents are recovering after a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Morriss Road and Cross Timbers Road.
According to police reports, James Anthony Mattern, 44, was driving his 2005 Toyota Camry northbound on Morriss Road with his son, Hunter Mattern, 17, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Reports indicate that 28-year-old Tiffany Nicole Moss, of Whitehouse, Texas, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Z71 southbound on Morriss and ran a red light while turning left onto Cross Timbers, hitting the Camry.
Two children, ages 6 and 10, were in the car with Moss.
The crash resulted in injuries to both occupants of the Camry. James Mattern was transported by CareFlite to Medical Center of Plano with non-life-threatening injuries. The lead administrator at the scene determines when to use CareFlite.
Captain Wess Griffin of the Flower Mound Police Department said he believes James Mattern was released from the hospital the next day.
Hunter Mattern was taken by ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, also with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if he has been released.
None of the three occupants in the Z71 suffered injuries, Griffin said.
Griffin said he is not aware of any charges being filed at this time.
